Is there a fabric - with those colors in it - on a pillow, throw blanket, or in the curtains that just pops out at you? The best way to make your color scheme work (the reds and purples - which I love!) is to look for a fabric that you can use in the living room on the pillows, rugs, curtains that will help tie it all together. The color you want to paint the living room will be in the fabric that has a pattern using purple and reds. Take the color from there. Remember it's just paint - have fun with it.
